PAINTER

Sushila

"Feminism‘s greatest contribution to the future of art has probably been its lack of contrbution to rnodernism.‘ said a critic."

Sushila can safely be said to reappropriate her art in order to generate a feminist aesthetic that bases it self on her own instincts of womanhood, dealing with female posturing as it is her own eyes, a woman’s world unmitigated by the male gaze. As she sees it, her subjects are constantly engaged in a kind of performance art that engulfs their whole being body, soul, though, activity and time. It comes naturally to her and to them, to reinstate the positive image of female power through the depiction of friends, family and colleagues in their multifarious roles, entailing the pain, disappointment, disillusionment and struggle that comes with it.
