Faiyyaz Rashid Khan

"The attraction of the male and female figures towards the horse in my paintings, symbolizes the eternal relationship between humans and animals."

I was brought up in a joint family at Lonavala. My childhood was so full of adventure and joy that the memories have never left me. Lonavala is a landscape of hills, forest and waterbodies, of old houses and bungalows, large shady trees and narrow lanes; at short intervals, the sound of fast moving trains. The environment I inhabited was so mysterious that I was always in a kind of reverie. When I found myself alone, the characters from the stories my mother told me would suddenly come alive and I would slip into a world where man and bird and animal took on hybrid forms and would speak and play with me. Today, when I start painting on an empty canvas, all those creatures of my childhood fantasies flow out of my pen or brush, taking shape, mingling together, to recreate the world that inhabits within me. Artist Biodata

Faiyyaz Rashid Khan completed Five Years Government Diploma in Visual Arts from The Directorate of Maharashtra in Drawing and Painting at Abhinav Kala Mahavidhyalaya, Pune 2008 and is now Assistant Professor (Visual Artist). He was honored with Lalit Kala Academy Research Grant Scholarship 2012 -13 and Ministry of Culture, Young Artist Scholarship, HRD 2010-12. For his outstanding works of Arts, he won Poster competition for world Aids Day at Pimpri Chinchwad Mahanagarpalika, Pune – 2003; Kalavart National Art Contest with Silver medal, Ujjain M.P. – 2006 and Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation Present M.F. Hussain Award for Stylized Figurative Painting-2015. He has attended many artist’s camps organized by reputed art organizations and participated in several group shows. His paintings were displayed in prestigious exhibitions like Annual Art Exhibition of the Bombay Art Society -2013, The 55th National Exhibition of Art by Lalit kala Academy at Ravindra Bhavan, New Delhi -2014, 26th All India Exhibition of Contemporary Art, South Center Zone Cultural Center, Nagpur-2015. AIFACS Annual Art Exhibition New Delhi- 2010 and many more.
He starting producing sculpted works of art as a freshman, then he created several art pieces for various local businesses. He has participated in many national art competitions all over India. His Art collection is with reputed Art museum, Art organization and several Art collectors, Art Lovers in India and abroad. He was Art Teacher at Kendriya Vidyalaya, New Delhi for two years. Then again he joined as Art Teacher at Academy of Art and Design, New Delhi for two years. He has also conducted so many Art workshops in Delhi and Gurgaon. Currently he is working as Assistant Professor at Sushant School of Design, Ansal University.
