"I adopt the surrealist tool for visually representing my thoughts and ideas in my work."

As an artist my attempt is to understand and express thought through the medium of my practice thatunder currents of social and personal existence. Everyday a cacophony of visual references is presented to me by my immediate milieu, which becomes the springboard for my explorations and ideations. For the visual representation I had been influenced by stylization of Salvador Dali and David Hockney. From Dali, for example, I adopt the surrealist tool for visually representing my thoughts and ideas in my work, whereas from Hockney I draw his humorous approach towards even the most somber of concepts to create a symphony of dialogues between emotions, culture, society and experiences. Artist Biodata

Dushyant Patel born in 1987, completed his Diploma in Painting from Sheth CN College of Fine Art, Ahmedabad, and his Post Diploma in Printmaking from the Fine Arts Faculty, MS University, Baroda, 2009. His softly rendered artworks take on popular themes of the day and are presented with a touch of humour. Such a combination makes his paintings and prints more than just works of art; they are also a form of visual social commentary. He has been a part of several exhibitions in Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Baroda, and has been awarded the Gujarat State Lalit Kala Akademi in 2002 and 2009 for the Student Category and Artist Category respectively. He also carried his practice in printmaking in several mediums. He had received National HRD scholarship 2009 and young research fellowship 2016. Dushyant has established his own Graphic Studio named “Studio Vichitra” in Baroda. Dushyant currently works as a Graphic Art Technical Expert in the Department of Graphic Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts, MS University.
